Communication
The Club uses a variety of methods to communicate with members.
- E-mail. E-mail is the primary form of communication with families at LSC. Notification of all swim meets is communicated by e-mail and any other important information that must be communicated quickly is done by e-mail. For those families without email, a parent volunteer will keep those families informed by telephone. All families are encouraged to have an e-mail address. Last minute communication such as a cancellation of a swim practice is done by phone.
- LSC Newsletter. The Club's newsletter is published approximately three times a year and is distributed to the swimmers by the coaches. The newsletter will keep you up to date on club events and achievements.
- Bulletin Board. The bulletin board outside the store is an important communication tool. Information pertaining to swim meets (maps, warm-up times, requests for officials etc.) and general news is posted here. The news changes constantly and we ask that each parent take the time to come in and read the bulletin board once or twice a week. Please do not depend on your swimmer to tell you what is on it!
- Website. You're there. Check out the Events Calendar section as it is updated regularly.
Mail slots. In the store, each family has a mail slot where club communication and other items such as personal best ribbons are filed. It is each family's responsibility to pick up their own mail. The coaches and Board members also have separate mail slots which Club members can use to pass on information, cheques etc. - Parent meetings: The Club usually has one or two meetings a year for parents. It is important that at least one parent attend to keep up to date on Club activities.
- Telephone list. The Club produces annually a list of swimmers by name and address as well as parent's names and e-mail addresses. The list is intended for Club members' use only.
- Hy-Tek system. The Club maintains swimmer registration, meet entries and results on the Hytek computer system. An annual report is produced at the end of May for each swimmer showing the swimmer's best short course and long course time in all events. Contact the Club's team manager for more information.
