Great swims in Italy for the Canadian team
From an international competition in Palermo (Italy) as a members of a Canadian team Jenna Woods (Oakville Aquatic Club) and Jessie Hickey (Mississauga Aquatic Club) came back to Canada with individual medals. Jenna Woods was second in the 50 butterfly while Jessie Hickey finished third overall in the 50 backstroke. They both were also part of the Canadian relay that captuered a silver medal behind the Brazilian team. The other two members of the Canadian relay were Alexandra Derenzis from Mississauga and Erika Ceddia from Lakeshore. Canada got very close to another medal with the boys relay: Zachary Montesano (Etobicoke), Mark Vani (Etobicoke), Raffaele Massarotto (Etobicoke) and Isaac Crowe (Mississauga) finished 4th overall less than a second from the podium.
In the individual events great swims came from Marc Vani (4th in breastroke), Zachary Montesano (6th in butterfly) and Raffaele Massarotto (7th in freestyle), Erika Ceddia (9th in freestyle), Isaac Crowe (10th in backstroke) and Alexandra Derenzis (12th in breastroke).
At the competition 14 teams participated from all over the world and Canada (coached by Mississauga Aquatic Club member Andrea Pittis) finished third overall behind Brazil and Venezuela. Here it is the results for the Canadian swimmers
